Route: Guided hikes on the unmanaged and unmarked trail begin on Haleakala Highway at approximately 6000` elevation. The guided hikes traverse subalpine shrubland, active pasture lands and eucalyptus plantings downhill to the Olinda Road Gate at about 4,000` elevation. The Waihou Spring State Forest Reserve parking area may be utilized for parking.

FORMS REQUIRED! Participants are required to bring signed Haleakala Ranch AND State DLNR waivers. Please print, sign and bring both waivers on the day of the hike. Be aware that dense fog or clouds may obscure the trail making traveling difficult. The guided hikes traverse pastures that are subject to active operations including herbicide use, heavy equipment, livestock and dogs utilized for livestock protection and management. Ranch dogs should not be approached. Hikers are not permitted to bring dogs.
